Wind Damage

If your area recently went through a storm, whether it was a rainstorm, windstorm, hailstorm, or more severe, a hurricane, it most likely damaged your roof in one way or another. Often times, roof inspectors may find damage to your roof's shingles caused by age and/or high-speed winds, which can then lead to blown-off shingles. A lack in shingles exposes parts of your roof to the elements (sun, wind, rain, hail, etc.), which can cause even more damage to the area lacking shingles. This can then lead to interior damage through the attic insulation, and ceiling discoloration.

Hail Damage

Though not visible from ground level, hail damage has detrimental effects on your roof. It causes additional damage from sun exposure, which can cause holes in your roof. Holes in your roof then lead to severe plywood and interior damage (i.e. mold, ceiling discoloration, water leaking through drywall, electrical problems, etc.). Not only does hail damage roofs, but it can even damage your gutters and window screens. Small to large holes in your window screens compromises their integrity, which lead to leaking around the window casings.

Depreciation

Now that you know what roof experts look for during inspections, it's time to evaluate... Has your area undergone some kind of storm in the last year? Does your roof have yet to be inspected since the storm? If the answers are yes, it's time to schedule an inspection before time runs out and your insurance can no longer cover the cost of the damages. Insurance will only cover the depreciation if the storm date is under a year out. During this time period, damage are considered as, by law, "Acts of God," in which insurance is required to cover the damages.

Lucky for you, you've found DBE Home Improvements who can help with exactly just that! Due to frequent storms in the DMV, spots are filling up quickly. Reserve your roof inspection appoinment with DBE today.
